If you want a capable gaming mouse that won’t break the bank, the Corsair M55 RGB Pro stands out as a strong contender. It’s built for gamers who care about precision and comfort, but who don’t necessarily need all the bells and whistles of premium wired mice.

Design & Comfort — Symmetry for All Players

The first thing you’ll notice about the M55 RGB Pro is its true ambidextrous shape, meaning it’s comfortable whether you’re left- or right-handed a feature that’s still surprisingly rare in budget gear. The symmetrical body also makes it easy to use with palm, claw, or fingertip grips, so most gamers can find a comfortable fit.

Corsair also keeps the design clean and functional, with rubberized grips on the sides and RGB lighting under the scroll wheel and on the logo. It’s not flashy, but it feels solid in hand and won’t tire you out over long sessions.

Performance — Fast, Accurate Tracking

Under the hood, this mouse uses a PixArt PMW3327 optical sensor with a sensitivity range up to 12,400 DPI, giving you plenty of control whether you’re sniping in an FPS or navigating web pages.

In real-world use, the tracking is responsive and precise, with low click latency that feels good in both games and everyday use. Some tests indicate that the sensor can feel a bit inconsistent at very high movement speeds, but for most users it’s accurate enough for competitive play and routine tasks alike.

Buttons & Customization — Flexible Control

One of the M55’s best features is its eight programmable buttons, letting you set up macros or custom commands through Corsair’s iCUE software. That’s a lot of control for a mouse at this price point, especially when titles like MMOs or MOBAs benefit from extra inputs.

The software also lets you adjust DPI levels, sync lighting with other Corsair gear, and reassign buttons, though the iCUE interface can feel a bit cumbersome at first.

RGB Lighting & Build Quality

While the RGB lighting isn’t showy just a couple of zones under the logo and wheel it adds a touch of personalization that’s nice to have at this price.

Build quality is generally solid and durable, with Omron switches rated for millions of clicks and a braided cable that feels more robust than cheap rubber alternatives.

Pros

  • True ambidextrous design makes it great for left- or right-handed players.
  • High-sensitivity optical sensor with up to 12,400 DPI.
  • Lots of programmable buttons for macros and commanders.
  • Lightweight and comfortable for long gaming sessions.
  • Good value for money — solid specs at a low price.

Cons

  • Sensor can feel a bit uneven at extreme speeds in testing.
  • Corsair’s iCUE software has a learning curve.
  • RGB is subtle and not a showpiece.

Who Should Buy It?

This mouse is a great choice if you want:

  • A budget-friendly wired gaming mouse with versatile use
  • Ambidextrous design for left-handed gamers
  • Plenty of programmable buttons and decent DPI range
  • A solid performer without high-end extras

It’s less ideal if you’re after cutting-edge sensor tech, extensive onboard memory, or luxurious RGB effects — but at its price, that’s not a surprise.

Overall, the Corsair M55 RGB Pro delivers excellent value and solid performance for a wired gaming mouse in its class. It’s flexible, comfortable, and capable across genres from FPS to strategy games, all without costing a lot — making it a standout pick for budget gamers.
