The Backforce One is a rarity in the gaming chair market. Rather than being a rebadged clone from a generic factory, it boasts a unique design and manufacturing process that sets it apart.

With highly customizable color options, a light-up rear disc, and a premium build, it offers a lot on paper. But is it enough to justify the premium price tag?

Design: Standing Out from the Crowd

The aesthetic is familiar yet distinct. It features the classic racing bucket seat styling but elevates it with a fixed hard plastic shell on the back.

  • Customization: The “OG” all-black version is understated, but you can add custom-stitched Velcro patches to the shoulders to display your gamer tag.
  • Gamer Pulse: The rear of the chair features an RGB-illuminated module, adding a unique flair to your setup.

Comfort: A Tale of Two Heights

The chair is rated for users between 4ft 11in and 6ft 3in, but our testing revealed a split experience.

For Taller Users (6ft+)

The lack of adjustability is a significant hurdle. The hard shell means there is no lumbar or headrest adjustment.

  • Our 6ft 2in tester was forced into a hunched position due to the lack of lumbar support.
  • The shoulder “fins” dug into the upper back.
  • The armrests did not rise high enough to support the arms comfortably while typing.

For Shorter Users (~5ft 2in)

The experience was much better. The headrest aligned perfectly, the seat depth was sufficient, and the armrests provided good support. If you are on the shorter side, this chair fits much better.

Build Quality and Features

Where the Backforce One truly shines is its construction.

  • Sturdy Base: Unlike cheap alternatives, the base and gas lift are rock solid with zero wobble.
  • Seat Padding: The cushioning is soft yet supportive, with a nice roll-off at the front edge to protect leg circulation.
  • The Downside: The castors (wheels) are surprisingly stiff, making it difficult to glide around your gaming space effortlessly.

Pros and Cons

ProsCons
Unique, non-generic designLack of lumbar/headrest adjustability
Excellent build quality (no wobble)Uncomfortable for taller users
Great seat cushion comfortStiff castors

Conclusion

It is refreshing to see a genuinely different design in the gaming chair space. The Backforce One has excellent build quality and looks fantastic.
