The Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 memory kit offers a winning combination. It blends strong performance with customizable RGB lighting for enthusiasts.

With 10 RGB LED zones and control through Corsair iCUE software, it delivers solid results. Additionally, it boasts notable overclocking capabilities. However, the taller height may present clearance challenges in smaller builds. Overall, it remains a compelling choice for its balance of style and function.

Design and Features

The kit features a black multi-layered PCB with anodized aluminum heat spreaders. These spreaders are vented for both aesthetics and cooling.

  • RGB Lighting: The top features a translucent diffuser with 10 individual RGB LED zones.
  • Height: The module stands at 50mm tall. You must verify RAM clearance in your PC case, especially for compact builds.
  • Thermal Sensors: Uniquely, this kit includes built-in thermal sensors by Seiko Instruments. These allow you to monitor temperatures directly via iCUE.

Performance and Overclocking

We tested the 16GB (2 x 8GB) kit rated at 3200MHz with CL16 timings on an AMD Ryzen platform.

  • Stock Performance: The kit performs flawlessly out of the box with XMP 2.0 enabled.
  • Overclocking: We successfully pushed the kit to 3466MHz. Remarkably, we achieved this with tightened timings of CL14 at 1.380V. This resulted in a roughly 7.5% boost in read speeds.

Software Control

The iCUE software is robust. It gives users total control over the lighting effects. You can synchronize patterns like “Spiral Rainbow” or “Rain” across multiple Corsair devices.

While the software is powerful, it is required to read the onboard thermal sensors. Third-party tools like HWInfo64 may not detect them.

Pros and Cons

ProsCons
✅ Customizable 10-zone RGB lighting❌ Tall height (50mm) limits cooler compatibility
✅ Solid overclocking headroom (3466MHz CL14)❌ Heavy dependency on iCUE software
✅ Excellent build quality
✅ Built-in thermal monitoring

Verdict: Should You Buy It?

The Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro is a fantastic choice for anyone building a DDR4 system. It offers a flawless out-of-the-box experience and looks stunning.

If you want customizable RGB lighting and solid performance, this kit is a winner. However, if you prefer a minimalist look or have a small form-factor case, the 50mm height might be an issue. For everyone else, it offers great value.
